Our Guest Artist, Chad Fisher has become one of the most sought after musicians in the south. He cut his teeth playing the trombone in the rich soul and jazz scene of Alabama and Mississippi, performing with local and regional bands, as well as soul legends The Temptations, Four Tops, Muscle Shoals’ The Swampers, and a host of others. In addition, he appeared on Grammy winning songwriter Jason Isbell’s 2012 release Live in Alabama.
In 2015, he joined Birmingham, Alabama band St. Paul and The Broken Bones and can be heard on the band’s newest record Sea of Noise. The band is currently touring nationally and internationally in support of that record, performing recently on US national television (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Austin City Limits) and The BBC (Later with Jools Holland). Past dates include performances with Elton John, composer Phillip Glass, and opening dates for The Rolling Stones.
Fisher’s own band Birmingham based band of all-star musicians is known as one the region’s best.
Fisher has been active in music education throughout the southeast for almost two decades, teaching trombone and jazz privately and within the public school system. In 2009, he joined the adjunct jazz faculty at UAB and has since been an active instructor, performer, and clinician for the university.
