Jazz vocalist and Music Educator Annie McClendon will be our guest artist for the Sunday, May 15, 2016 SuperJazz concert.
Annie McClendon hails from the great state of Pennsylvania, where she learned to sing jazz under the wing of renowned baritone sax player and Maynard Ferguson alum Bruce Johnstone. Her endeavors with Johnstone landed her work with the Dave Stevens big band, Doug Dressler big band, and the USAF airmen of note.
Upon moving to Alabama in 2003, McClendon began singing with numerous Alabama musicians, including Mart Avant and the Night Flight Big Band, The Joe Giattina Orchestra, Richard Davidson’s Q-Bop, the UA Cavalier’s, among others.
McClendon lives on the lake in Tuscaloosa with her husband Allen, and two children, Gray and Sadie. She teaches music at Holy Spirit Catholic school and is currently working with her daughter Sadie to advance her musical career!
